Hauppauge Fire Department

One of Hauppauge's original motorized apparatus

The Hauppauge Fire Department was formed on May 11, 1931 under the direction of 14 Charter Members who devoted their time and energy to create an organization that would ultimately evolve into what it is now.  To this day, this department continues the traditions and quality service that these men prided themselves in providing to their community, even at a time when the area was relatively undeveloped.

Since that time, Hauppauge has become home to many major businesses, hotels and over 21,000 residents. There are several hundred buildings in the Hauppauge Industrial Park which are occupied by over 1000 businesses. Each day tens of thousands of people come to Hauppauge to earn their living, in addition to those who live here. Further growth may be possible in the near future with recent changes in building codes which will allow multi-story commercial structures. Times have changed and we continue to change with them.

Our training, a top priority for the Fire District, is intense and constantly ongoing. We train, not only for the routine fires, but for hazardous materials incidents, high rise fires, terrorist and bomb incidents, plane crashes, extricating crash victims and rescuing individuals trapped in building or underground collapses. Our officers and members receive specialized training in fire service management and incident command. We currently have over 125 members, maintain 3 fire stations, and respond with 5 pumpers, 1 Quint, 1 ladder truck, and 1 rescue truck.  All of our apparatus is modern-day and custom-built to suit the needs of our fire district.

Rest assured that the Hauppauge Fire Department stands ready to protect it's residents and occupants day and night. Whether your emergency be a fire, a flood, a hurricane, a blizzard, a car accident, or even just burned food, your local neighbors and friends who serve this fine department are fully capable of handling any situation you need assistance with.
